When it comes to writing, are women better than men?

Yes, according to the results of the Nation’s Report Card.

More than 75,000 students in the 8th and 12th grades were asked to perform writing tasks in three areas: To persuade, trying to change the reader’s point of view; to explain, trying to broaden a reader’s understanding of a topic; and to convey experience, trying to provide an account of a real or imaginary experience to a reader.

The girls outscored the boys in both grades.

Would the results be the same at FOX 8? We put our anchors to the test.

Below are two essays written by Wayne and Kristi on why you should watch FOX 8. Which one was more persuasive? See the results, below!

Essay 1: “Where else can you get two anchors with so much chemistry? Their clothes even match! How about a weather man who offers a “gun show” on a warm day?! Plus, with all these elements on the show, including: a guy so popular he even has his name on his shirt; a cute traffic reporter; and a segment that allows you to sound off on a topic of the day, there should be no question … the FOX 8 family should be your choice for news!”

Essay 2: “You should watch FOX 8 News in the Morning because we have 5 1/2 hours of jam-packed news, weather, sports and fun! Plus, we coordinate. Not to mention, Kristi Capel is a breath of fresh air and very intelligent and cute. In fact, ALL the women on FOX 8 are nice looking.”
