ELYRIA, Ohio — Elyria High School announced on its website Monday that a person associated with the school had been diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB).
“This person is currently under the care of medical staff and is expected to make a full recovery,” stated the posting addressed to parents and staff.
Administrators also said that it’s possible that students and faculty were exposed to TB. As a precaution, health officials from Mercy TB Clinic will be at the high school Wednesday to conduct skin tests.
The screening is free. However, parents have to sign the permission slip sent home with students on Monday in order for them to receive the test.
Parents with questions were encouraged to contact the Mercy TB Clinic at (440) 244-3017.
