1 Dead, Several Hurt in Wayne County Crash

WAYNE COUNTY, Ohio –One man is dead and 7 others are injured after a crash in  Canaan Township Saturday evening.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, 36-year-old Melvin Romanchik was driving through the intersection of State Route 3 and County Road 48. His Pontiac Sunfire struck an SUV, causing it to overturn. Romanchik was pronounced dead on the scene.

Three other victims were transported away from the scene by LifeFlight helicopters. The Ohio State Highway Patrol say two were taken to Akron Children’s Hospital, and one victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.

The accident remains under investigation. This is the 10th fatal crash in Wayne Co in 2012.
