Road Reopened After Kent Building Fire

KENT, Ohio — A building fire Wednesday morning caused a minor traffic hangup in Kent.

State Route 43 (Gougler Avenue) was closed between West Main Street and Fairchild Avenue. It reopened just after 8 a.m.

Kent firefighters responded to the Family and Community Services building just before 6 a.m. They put the flames out quickly, but crews stuck around for a while to investigate the scene.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire.

There was no immediate word on the extent of the damage to the structure.
