MIDDLEFIELD TWP., Ohio — An investigation was launched after a four-month-old child was ejected from an Amish buggy during a crash.

The buggy was traveling south on SR 528 in Middlefield Twp., Geauga County on Thursday around 5:35 p.m.

According to the Chardon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the buggy was to the right of the marked fog line when it was hit by a 70-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer.

A four-month-old riding in the buggy was ejected and taken to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital by Med-Evac.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said alcohol was not a factor and the driver of the SUV was released from the scene.
