(CNN) — Starbucks coffee may refresh you in more ways than one.

Scientists in Hong Kong are testing out a process called “biorefinery.”

It recycles old coffee grinds and baked goods into things such as detergent and plastic.

The idea was presented at the recent 244-th National Meeting and Exposition of the American Chemical Society.

Scientists from Hong Kong’s City University are working with Starbucks Hong Kong on the project.
