Donald’s Homer Snaps Tribe’s Scoreless Streak
CLEVELAND — The Indians dropped another contest Wednesday night at Progressive Field.
The Oakland A’s took an 8-4 decision and sent Cleveland to defeat for the fourth game in a row.
At least the Indians got on the board in this contest.
They had gone 24 straight innings without scoring a run when Jason Donald snapped the futility with a solo homer in the 3rd inning.
Jason Kipnis drove in the second run on a ground out in the same inning.
A 2-0 lead might have been cause for celebration, but it did not last long.
One inning later, Oakland took the lead for good on a three run shot by Donaldson.
Oakland added a single run in the 6th and a pair of runs in the 7th.
Cleveland clawed back to within 6-4 in the top of the 8th but reliever Vinnie Pestano struggled in the 9th inning, allowing 2 runs and the 8-4 lead. That’s how it ended.
The Indians and the A’s conclude their series on Thursday with a noon affair at Progressive Field.
