Man, 97, Held Down, Robbed at Home

AKRON, Ohio — A 97-year-old man was held down and robbed at his home Monday afternoon.

Akron police say the robbery occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the 200 block of Selden Avenue. The victim says the suspect entered the home by kicking in the basement door. Once inside, he held the man to the floor and took his wallet containing $200 cash, credit cards and identification.

The suspect then fled the scene, and the victim called his son who then contacted police.

The man was not injured in the robbery.

No description of the suspect is available at this time. Police encourage anyone with information to contact the Akron Police Department.
