CLEVELAND -- One person is dead after a shooting near a Cleveland nightclub.

It happened at Lee Road and Judson Drive at around 2:30 a.m. outside the Sirrah House. Police were already on scene when the shooting occurred, as off-duty officers and security are employed by the club.

The manager of the Sirrah House says the club had closed at 2:15 a.m., and that a couple hundred people had gathered in the parking lot when the shots were fired.

A 21-year-old man was hit in the gunfire. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he died. Police say he was shot four times in the chest.

According to Cleveland police, officers fired shots at the suspected shooter after he refused their orders to stop. Sgt. Sammy Morris says the suspect reached into his waistband twice before an officer fired his weapon. The 27-year-old suspect was not hit, but was arrested.
