Alligator Captured in Cleveland Backyard

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Police and officers with Cleveland’s Animal Control Board were at a westside home after an alligator was discovered in a backyard on Monday morning.

Fox 8 News crews at the scene reported the alligator was captured in the backyard of a home at the intersection of West 50th Street and Fanta Avenue.

Authorities are investigating who owns the alligator and why the large reptile was in the backyard.

According to Animal Control officers the alligator is between three to four feet long and has the potential to grow to eight feet.

The alligator is currently being cared for at the Cleveland City Kennel on West 7th Street.
