AURORA, Co. (CNN) — A pint-sized survivor of the Colorado mass shooting is being welcomed into the world.

Hugo Jackson Medley, the son of Katie and Caleb Medley, was born Tuesday morning at the University of Colorado Hospital.

That’s the same hospital where Hugo’s father, Caleb, remains in critical condition, after taking a bullet to face during Friday’s movie theater shooting.

Caleb is in a medically-induced coma but is starting to breathe on his own.

His pregnant wife, Katie, was not hit.

The hospital says “both mom and baby are doing great.”
