CLEVELAND — The Indians beat the Tigers on a suicide squeeze bunt in the 7th inning, 3-2 on a warm night at Progressive Field.

First, however kudos go to Ubaldo Jimenez, who pitched 7 very solid innings. He allowed 7 hits, but shut down the Motown bats and struck out 4 batters. He left the game with a 2-0 lead. Indians runs came courtesy of a Johnny Damon RBI single in the second inning, and a Carlos Santana RBI in the 4th.

In the top of the 7th inning, Joe Smith allowed a 2 run homer by Miguel Cabrera to tie the game, but the Tribe got right back on top in the bottom of the 7th. Aaron Cunningham laid down a suicide squeeze bunt, and Lou Marson slid home safely and the 3-2 lead stood up.

Vinnie Pestano and Chris Perez came on after Joe Smith and each shut down the Tigers. Pestano got his 28th hold, and Perez earned his 28th save. Smith, by the way got credit for the win, his 6th win against 2 losses.

The Indians, who traded for Brent Lillibridge of the Red Sox before the game will face the Tigers again on Wednesday night.
