Crepes

We started off the show with something savory and something sweet! Debbie Krawec from Bonjour Catering showed us that making delicious and unique crepes is easier than you think. Perfect for summer, she folded up a S’more crepe with graham crackers, marshmellows, and of course, chocolate. On the savory side was a Caprese crepe with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and pesto!

Find them at several farmers’ markets including Public Square on Friday’s!

Mosquitoes!

Stop the bugs from snacking on you this summer! Hanna Rhoades, The Garden Guru, was in studio to demo a couple different and natural ways to combat mosquitoes.

Hanna’s Tips?

  • Don’t buy a citronella plant (they don’t work). Instead plant Lemon Balm. This plant grows quickly and repels mosquitoes when you rub it on your skin. Protection lasts about 30 minutes.
  • Citronella candles or incense DO repel mosquitoes. It’s actually the smoke that the candles produce that acts as a repellent.
  • Fans are a great way to protect a large area. Simply put a fan on low speed and the mosquitoes will have trouble landing on anything.
  • Mosquitoes breed in warm, standing water. So be sure to eliminate any water that may be a breeding ground. (Birdbaths, old tires, watering cans, ditches, puddles, etc.)

It’s one of the best kept Lakeside dining secrets in all of Northeast Ohio. It’s called “The Oaks Lakeside” on Chippewa Lake. Owner Johnny Pollizi joined us to make one of their favorite dishes: Baked Brie. This appetizer is so good we suggest having it for dessert!
