GENEVA, Ohio — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three people from Lake Erie after their boat partially sunk late Sunday morning.

Authorities say a radio watchstander at a Coast Guard Station called 911 at approximately 11:31 a.m. to report the boat’s sinking about a mile offshore Geneva State Park. Emergency crews launched a 33-foot Special Purpose Craft Law Enforcement boat to perform the rescue.

Crews say when they arrived on scene, they found three boaters in the water near the sunken boat.

Rescued were a 61-year-old man, his 34-year-old daughter and his daughter’s 6-year-old son. Rescuers say all three were wearing life jackets and none were seriously injured.

The cause of the sinking is currently under investigation.
