Standoff Ends Peacefully

Cleveland — A standoff with members of the Cleveland Police Department SWAT Team ended peacefully early Thursday morning.

Police were called to an apartment on Eliot Avenue just after midnight.

A police dispatcher told Fox 8 News there were reports of a woman with a gun who may have been holding hostages.

The standoff ended around 3 a.m. when the woman surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody.

Police told Fox 8 News the standoff began when the woman fired at least five shots after some kind of dispute. Nobody was hit. Police also said the woman had a 13-year-old girl in the apartment with her.

The woman agreed to surrender if a female police officer would escort her to the police station.
