CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The trial of a former police officer accused of sex crimes is now underway in a Justice Center courtroom.
Mathew Mole resigned his position with the Waite Hill Police Department shortly after his arrest. He faces charges of sexual battery and unlawful sexual assault with a minor.
The alleged victim, who will be 15 years old next week, testified that he met the officer over the internet. He said they arranged a sexual tryst at the Richmond Heights home he shared with his mother in December.
The boy described the sexual encounter in graphic detail and testified that his mother found him naked in a back room.
He said he denied knowing who Mole was because he "panicked."
He then described his mother's conversation with Mole.
"They kind of start rambling at each other," he testified. "Oh, I am not supposed to be here, and they kind of argued back and forth," he said.
The minor testified that he lied about his age, saying he was 18 years old during the initial communication with the police officer. It is not known whether Mole will take the witness stand in his own defense.
