SUMMIT COUNTY — Sheriff’s Deputies in Summit County arrested a man last week who allegedly poured hot water on his 18-month-old child.

According to Inspector Bill Holland with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Dusty Gauder, 27, of Coventry, was taken into custody on July 6, 2012.

Gauder has been charged with felonious assault and endangering children after Coventry EMS responded to a home where the child was burned.

Through an investigation by Sheriff’s Office Detectives, it was determined that the toddler’s injuries were caused by his father pouring hot water on him.

The child was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital for treatment. Inspector Holland did not know the status of the child as of Monday afternoon.

Gauder was arrested, charged and transported to the Summit County Jail by deputies.

Gauder remains in the jail awaiting a pre-trial hearing on the charges.
