CLEVELAND — The bats were booming at Progressive Field Friday night, only this time they didn’t belong to the Indians.

The Tampa Bay Rays banged out 13 hits to pound the Tribe by a final score of 10-3.

Ben Zobrist got the scoring started for the Rays with a two-run homer off Indians starter Justin Masterson in the first inning.

The Tribe answered in the home half of the first. After loading the bases with nobody out, Travis Hafner hit into a double play. Asdrubal Cabrera then scored on a Alex Cobb balk to even the score.

Masterson would dance out of trouble until the 5th inning. Jose Lobaton drove in a pair of runs with a double, then Luke Scott broke an 0-41 skid with a two-run homer that would chase Masterson from the game.

Nick Hagadone relieved and coughed up more runs on a Zobrist sacrifice fly and a B.J. Upton two-run single.

With the loss, the Tribe falls to 43-40 on the season.

The Indians and Rays will continue their four-game series Saturday with Ubaldo Jimenez on the hill against Matt Moore. First pitch is schedule for 6:05 p.m.
