NEWSCOMERSTOWN, Ohio -- A destructive storm wreaked havoc on parts of Tuscarawas County Friday night, prompting the National Weather Service to, at one point, issue a Tornado Warning.

The severe weather dealt a particularly hard blow to the Speedway gas station and Wendy's restaurant on Morris Xing in Newcomerstown. Workers there said damaging winds ripped off a portion of the roof and blew away part of a sign.

"All of the sudden, I heard this loud boom, and the next thing I know, part of the roof was hanging, hitting the window," one employee told Fox 8 News reporter Kevin Freeman.

After the storm moved out, a few unlucky customers walked out to the parking lot to find their car windows busted by the strong winds.

Other areas in the county were dealing with downed trees, power lines and debris scattered across roads Friday night.
