MENTOR, Ohio – Police arrested a man last week on a charge of child endangering after a one-year-old child was left alone in van outside an ice cream shop.

According to an arrest report obtained by Fox 8 News, Kevin Payerchin, 27, of Mentor, was arrested on June 8 and charged with child endangering.

According to the report, Payerchin left his one-year-old daughter inside a van on Friday evening for an undisclosed amount of time. The van was parked at 7577 Mentor Avenue.

Police were called to the scene after a passerby noticed the child crying in a car seat inside the car.

Mentor EMS was contacted by police and the child was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment.

Police say the child was found sweating profusely when she was removed from the vehicle.

Payerchin appeared in Mentor Municipal Court on Monday morning on the charge and plead not guilty.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 2, 2012.
