CLEVELAND, Ohio — The death of a woman who was found inside her east side home Friday morning has been ruled a homicide, Fox 8 News reports.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office says that 55-year-old Patricia Evans, of Cleveland, died as a result of “cervical compression.” Officials did not immediately provide further details.

Cleveland Police Sgt. Sammy Morris said that just before 7 a.m. Friday, police were called to a home in the 1500 block of East 33rd Street for a “female covered in blood.” Evans’ boyfriend told police that he returned home from a relative’s house to find her bleeding on the kitchen floor.

Emergency workers responded, but Evans was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. Morris said she had suffered “trauma” to her body.
