The Gladiators Arena Football League game against the Pittsburgh Power at Quicken Loans Arena was cancelled Friday night, and the home team Gladiators received a forfeit for failing to take the field.

The Gladiators lost their third game in a row with the defeat.

Cleveland players were striking on behalf of the Arena Football League Players Union, which is seeking better working conditions from the league.

Backup QB Matt Bassuener told Dennis Manoloff of the Plain Dealer he believes the Gladiators are the only team carrying out the strike this weekend.

Team spokesman Phil Tesar released the following statement:

“The Gladiators care deeply about our fans and are doing everything in our control to play games and continue competing for wins on the field. That will always be our top priority and focus. Unfortunately, the players decided to withhold their services so that tonight’s game was not possible to be played. The League is focusing all of their efforts to resolve the labor situation with the players and we know the collective goal is a deal that is fair for both the players and the teams, while also being good for the game and our fans.”

The team has a policy for fans to get refunds. See below for information:
