MACEDONIA, Ohio -- A bear is on the loose in Summit County, and wildlife experts are warning people who live in the county to be very careful.
Emergency agencies have received many calls from people reporting bear sightings.
"Yeah, we've been trying to track it; that's like the third spotting this evening. It's sitting down here by my tree in the backyard," one caller said.
George Ruhl, of Macedonia, described a bear sighting in his backyard.
He said, "She came out on the porch by herself and I heard this barking. I was in the living room, and I heard all the barking, and I came out and here I was looking around and the bear was feeding off the feeder."
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says bears are drawn to food, so don't leave any food outside. If you see a bear, don't approach it. Get inside as soon as you can.
Bear sightings are not that unusual this time of year. There can be dozens of sightings every year in the state, most of them in northeast and southeast Ohio.
