CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are searching for the person who shot a woman on the city’s east side early Sunday morning.

Detective Jennifer Ciaccia tells Fox 8 News that it happened at approximately 5:45 a.m. in the 2700 block of East 126th Street.

Neighbors told police they heard screaming then saw 37-year-old Johanna Buenaventura, of Cleveland, being pushed out of a black Chevy Blazer with “heavy window tint.”

Buenaventura had been shot in the chest and abdomen and sustained injuries to her face. Cleveland EMS took her to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she is listed in serious condition.

Witnesses said the SUV fled southbound on East 126th Street toward Buckeye Avenue after the shooting.

Few details are known about the suspect so police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Fourth District Detective Bureau at (216) 623-5418.
