On her first day back at work following her husband's terrible accident, Fox 8's Stefani Schaefer shared some thoughts with co-host Wayne Dawson and provided an update on Roger's condition.

Stefani says Roger is still in a coma, but he does "open his eyes from time to time."

She told Wayne the next step of this long process will be brain rehabilitation, but the swelling must go down before that can happen.

"He's breathing on his own, and that is a blessing. ... There are so many blessings," Stefani told Wayne, who marveled at her positive outlook.

She again thanked all of the Fox 8 News viewers for their prayers.

"You guys have been so wonderful," Stefani said.

All along, Stefani has been updating her Facebook fan page to let her friends know how Roger is doing. On Thursday, before the show, she posted the following:

"I had another good day with Roger yesterday... he opened his eyes a few times. We just look into each other's eyes. I show him photos of the kids and play messages they recorded for him on my phone. He can only keep his eyes open a few minutes at a time... and I just love every single second. I soak it all up. One day at a time... baby steps. I will be joining my Fox 8 Family this morning at 9am. I can't thank you enough for your tremedous support, love and prayers. You are all helping to carry me through this horrible time for my family. Thank you Thank you Thank you.. a million times over."
