MEDINA, Ohio -- At the home of the Hornets, they are swarming with pride.

Highland High is proud to be this week's Fox 8 Cool School.

Highland set high standards in the classroom, striving for an "A" in academics. It is evident in the robotics class.

"Teachers here at the high school do a great job with the academics and the books, textbooks. But, the textbooks can only take you so far. In robotics class, we learn hands-on. We use problem-solving and teamwork. We get to apply what we've learned in our math classes, our science classes. This is where it all really comes together," some robotics students said.

The Highland speech and debate team has gain much success this season.

"We've had 26 of our competitors place, bringing home 52 trophies throughout the entire season, and we sent 11 qualifiers to state this year," a Highland speech team member said.

Highland athletes are also making the mark. The girls golf team placed third in the state.

And, the arts takes center stage at Highland High. The men's chorus has been a standout group. It sang "Choose the High Road" as a tribute to the school's National Honor Society.

Highland has a group of high school students who are leading the way as peer leaders. They go to the 3rd and 6th grade classrooms and teach the students how to make positive decisions that will affect their lives. They act as role models, mentors and friends.

The "triple As" -- academics, arts and athletics -- make Highland High a Fox 8 Cool School!
