COLUMBUS — Ohio Governor John Kasich was involved in a minor, chain reaction crash near Columbus on Tuesday, his spokesperson, Rob Nichols, confirmed.

Kasich’s state vehicle was traveling through a construction area on I-71 south around 4:30 p.m. as he returned from a groundbreaking ceremony in Zanesville, Ohio.

When traffic suddenly slowed, a charter bus behind the governor’s vehicle was unable to stop in time.

Nichols said it hit the car in front of it, which hit the governor’s vehicle.

Kasich was jostled in the fender-bender and plans to see his personal doctor as a precaution.

Also riding in the vehicle were three staffers, one security team member and the driver who is from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

At the time of this report, the incident was under investigation and no one had been cited.
