Young Boy, Father Burned in Cleveland House Fire

CLEVELAND —  A young boy and his father were hurt in a house fire and taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment, Asst. Fire Chief Brent Collins with the Cleveland Division of Fire confirmed.

Firefighters were called to Wainstead Avenue on the city’s west side just before 4 p.m. on Monday.

Two firefighters rescued the boy, whose age was estimated by the fire department to be between 3-4 years-old.

He suffered second degree burns on 15-percent of his face and hands, and third degree burns on 5-percent of his back.

His father suffered burns and cuts to both hands.

They were the only two inside the home at the time of the fire.

The cause was under investigation as of Monday evening.
