One of Cleveland’s own and a Fox 8 favorite, chef Rocco Whalen, announced on Monday that he will be opening a new restaurant inside Cleveland’s Horseshoe Casino when it opens in May.

The restaurant called “Rosie & Rocco’s” is named in honor of Whalen’s late mother, and will feature Italian and comfort food.

“Since I was eight-years-old, my mother has been the inspiration for my cooking and has positively influenced me throughout my life,” Whalen said.

Clevelanders can look to sample pizzas, a meatball bar, selections of antipasti, and hand-made pasta dishes when the doors open.

Whalen’s restaurant is the third local eatery to join the casino’s food court, alongside Corky & Lenny’s deli and Michael Symon’s B Spot.

Whalen is the executive chef of Fahrenheit Restaurant in Tremont and hosts a weekly segment on gourmet cooking during Fox 8 News at 9am.
