CLEVELAND / AKRON — Last minute tax filers in northeast Ohio have two options if they’re mailing their returns past normal post office business hours.

The United States Postal Service announced extended hours of operation for the Cleveland Main Post Office and the Akron Main Post Office on Tuesday, April 17.

The Cleveland branch is located at 2400 Orange Avenue and will remain open until 10 p.m.

Customers should note that the traffic flow in the customer parking lot will be reversed around 3 p.m. to accommodate the anticipated increase in customer volume.

Customers should also make sure postage is already placed on their envelope or package.

The Akron branch is located at 675 Wolf Ledges Parkway and will be open until 7 p.m.

Because the IRS reported about 77% of tax returns were filed electronically last year and the majority of people have already filed this year, the USPS said there was not a significant need for most area post offices to stay open beyond normal business hours.
