BOSTON — It’s been five years since the Ohio State men’s basketball team was victorious in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. Despite cruising to a 12-point halftime lead, it looked as if that drought would continue.

At the beginning of the second half, the Cincinnati Bearcats rallied to take the lead thanks to a more intense defensive effort. The Buckeyes, however, responded with a 17-1 run that essentially iced the game.

Deshaun Thomas scored 26 points and Jared Sullinger added 23 more to go along with 11 rebounds. Aaron Craft scored 11 second-half points, and had a game-high six steals.

Behind the strength of those efforts, OSU beat Cincy 81-66. The Buckeyes will now battle Syracuse on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The winner will advance to the Final Four!
