NCAA Tournament: Syracuse, Kentucky Grab Wins

Two of the four number-one seeds played their opening game in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament on Thursday.

Syracuse and Kentucky are both seeded #1 in their regions. Both won, though Syracuse struggled to beat 16th-seed UNC-Asheville while Kentucky cruised past Western Kentucky.

Since the NCAA tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985 the teams seeded #1 have never lost a game to a team seeded #16. The #1’s lead that all-time series 110-0.
