AKRON, Ohio — A man who called 911 with the intention of ambushing the responding police officers was found guilty of felonious assault and assault, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced on Wednesday.

Akron Police were called to Boulevard Street on July 19, 2011, where they expected to find two people fighting.

However, when they arrived at that location, they were only met by Derrick Palm, 33, of Akron.

Palm punched one of the officers as he stepped out of his car, which led to Palm’s arrest.

On Tuesday, a judge sentenced Palm to three years in prison.
