Fatal Crash: Troopers Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

WOOSTER TWP., Ohio —  The Ohio State Highway Patrol urged anyone who witnessed one pickup truck force another off the road, resulting in a fatal crash, to come forward.

The incident happened Wednesday around 6:45 a.m. on US Route 30 near the exit ramp to US Route 250 in Wooster Twp.

According the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Brian E. Smith, 35, of Killbuck, Ohio was driving a Ford Ranger in the left lane as he was headed east.

His vehicle was allegedly forced off the left side of the road by a white pickup truck making a sudden lane change.

Once off the road, Smith’s vehicle hit a median and a light pole.

Although he was wearing a seat belt, Smith died from his injuries.

The other driver continued east on US 30.

Although there’s no evidence the two vehicles made contact, troopers said Smith was forced to swerve and leave the road.
