(CNN) -- Actress Patricia Heaton, a Cleveland native, temporarily shut down her Twitter account and apologized for bashing a Georgetown University law student.

Heaton, who stars in "The Middle" and was in "Everybody Loves Raymond," joined conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh in criticizing Sandra Fluke.

Fluke had testified on Capitol Hill, advocating for broad health care coverage that would include birth control.

Limbaugh, who has apologized for calling Fluke a "slut" and "prostitute," has lost a dozen advertisers.

While Heaton's words were softer, she apologized in tweets Saturday and Monday, saying she was not respectful.
