Shooting Survivor Released from Hillcrest Hospital

CHARDON, Ohio — A female who was shot during the Chardon High School shooting was released from the hospital, Chardon Police Chief Tim McKenna said during a news briefing Tuesday.

The victim, Joy Rickers, 18, received treatment at Hillcrest Hospital for approximately 24 hours.

She was one of five students hit inside the school when a gunman fired ten rounds with his .22-caliber pistol Monday morning.

Three of the students died from their wounds.

The accused gunman, T.J. Lane, was arrested and will remain in juvenile detention for the next fifteen days.

Charges are expected to be filed by March 1.
