Police: Akron Bank Robber Claimed to Have a Bomb & Gun

Police in Akron are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a Charter One Bank on Wednesday claiming he had a bomb.

The crime took place around 2:00pm yesterday afternoon, according to the Akron Police Website.

The suspect walked into the Charter One Bank, located at 333 South Broadway Street, and handed the teller a post-it note with the words, “Give me $2,000.00 – I have a bomb and gun.”

Police say the teller handed the suspect money, including the dye pack, and the suspect ran from the bank.

Police describe the man as being between  22 – 24 years old, 5’08”, 140 – 160 lbs.

Images captured by surveillance cameras show the suspect wearing a black “North Face” jacket and black skull cap.
