EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio --

A teenage mother was shot and killed in broad daylight after a massive fight broke out on Garfield Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

"He just started shooting, and then next thing I know, the girl just dropped, man," Paul Small said.

"The young lady that got shot, she got caught in the crossfire," East Cleveland City Council member Barbara Thomas said after she arrived on the scene.

Police identified the victim as the victim as Dena-Jua Delaney, 18 .

Witnesses said Delaney lived on the street, and she had a young child.

"She was a nice girl. She ain’t even deserve that,” Small said.

"Things do happen, but one of our kids is just devastating," Thomas said.

Police taped off the street collecting evidence as stunned neighbors watched from their front porches, shocked by what they just witnessed.

"Running away from the gunshot, she just fell. Innocent person ... over stupid stuff, misunderstandings and it's ridiculous," Small said.

Police say they do not have any motive or suspects, and want anyone with information on the shooting to call them at (216) 681-2162.
