Investigators in Washington arrested a Moroccan man Friday who had what he thought was a vest with explosives, intending to launch a suicide attack on the U.S. Capitol, a federal law-enforcement official said.

The man was arrested as part of an undercover operation that had been going on at least since December. The public was never in danger, and the materials in the vest had been rendered rendered inoperable, the official said.

The official said this person is not connected to a terrorist organization and was acting alone.
