Parma Police have made an arrest in connection with a series of pharmacy robberies in the Parma area beginning in early January.

According to Captain Robert DeSimone with the Parma Police department, Russell Olson Jr., 36, of Parma, was arrested on Tuesday evening by detectives as he left his home.

Olson has been charged with three counts of robbery through Parma’s municipal court, and according to DeSimone, his case has been forward to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office where additional charges are expected.

Olson is suspected of robbing the Rite Aid at 5795 State Road on Jan. 4, 2012, as well as two Walgreen’s pharmacies, one at 1415 Rockside Road on Jan. 19, 2012, another at 5400 Pearl Road on Feb. 4, 2012.

Police say that in each instance Olson walked into the pharmacy wearing heavy clothing and a mask and demanded prescription medicine, including Oxycontin.

Olson is currently being held at the Cuyhoga County jail, awaiting his initial court appearance.
