MEDINA, Ohio— It's days like Tuesday that give us spring and summer fever here in northeast Ohio. Tuesday was a day to enjoy the forecast.
The sun was shining, temperatures were near 60 degrees. What a winter this has been.
"This is one of the more mild winters we've had in a long time," said Fox 8 Meteorologist Scott Sabol.
It has been a roller coaster ride -- one day warm, the next day cold and we're already through January.
"Take advantage of any weather we have today or any 50 that you get because February is one of those months where things can turn very fast," Sabol added.
When it comes to winters in northeast Ohio, most golfers are stuck playing golf indoors, but that hasn't been the case this year.
"We've seen some extra outdoor golf this year," said Bunker Hill Golf Course owner Todd Ingraham.
Hitting the links has been a welcome relief for many golfers at Bunker Hill Golf Course in Medina. Most of these golfers normally head south just to play a few rounds.
"It's super, we're really enjoying this weather," said Medina resident Arnold Ingraham.
Paul Kray added, "It will actually be my fourth time playing this January."
Tuesday's forecast was like a hole-in-one. It brought a smile to everybody's face.
"I wish we had this kind of weather every year," Kray added.
"We're thankful things are going our way this winter, because they sure didn't last spring when it rained every day in April and May," Ingraham said.
This is northeast Ohio, after all, so if you didn't like the weather, just wait a few minutes... it's bound to change.
"If we're going to get cold air and there are some indications that the temperatures will start to drop in February we're going to get it in the next two to three weeks," Sabol said.
So bundle up for a wicked forecast that is sure to bring plenty of surprises.
"A mild winter through the end of January does not necessarily mean you're going to have cold weather coming in in February or March," said Sabol.
