Southwest Airlines will soon be offering flights out of the Akron-Canton Airport, according to a statement released by the airline on Friday afternoon.

Southwest will be converting AirTran Airways operations at 22 domestic and international airports to Southwest operations over time, according to the release. The exact date for the switch has not been announced.

Akron-Canton will join the Southwest route map, as will another Ohio location, Dayton.

In September, Southwest Airlines announced that it was purchasing AirTran Airways for nearly $1.4 billion.
