CLEVELAND—According to the Cleveland Police Department, India Parker, 35, of Cleveland, is at the center of an investigation into the disappearance of her daughter, Kaliyah, 10.

Relatives tell police they haven't seen Kaliyah in about five years.

"The Cleveland Division of Police received information from the Cuyahoga County Department of Child and Family Services on Monday, about a missing 10-year-old," said Sgt. Sammy Morris, with the Cleveland Police Department.

Police say it was little Kaliyah's birth father who reported the child missing Monday.

The police report indicates that India told the girl's father that Kaliyah died when a bookcase fell on her, but detectives were unable to locate a death certificate and hospital lists came up empty.

Wednesday, police arrested and booked Parker on abuse of a corpse.

They say Parker was also reported for child endangering back in 2000.

Parker will remain remain behind bars until police get to the bottom of what happened to Kaliyah.

"This is an open investigation. We are asking anyone with any information to call the Cleveland Homicide Unit," added Sgt. Morris.
