Northeast Ohio Native Takes Second Place on ‘X Factor’
WOOSTER, Ohio-A northeast Ohio native fell just a few notes short of a $5 million recording contract when The X Factor announced the winner of Season 1 Thursday.
Josh Krajcik, 30, came in second place when America chose Melanie Amaro as the winner.
Chris Rene came in third place.
Krajcik had a strong support system in Wooster, Ohio where he grew up, and his fans gathered at local establishments each week to watch him perform on national television.
Krajcik’s soulful sound helped him turn viewers into loyal fans.
“I don’t care where we go, I am stopped,” said Judy Oliver-Delaney, Josh’s grandma, on Wednesday. “We have to talk and talk. Anybody from two to 90-years-old loves Josh. It’s just been one wild ride.”
Although his X Factor ride ended Thursday, Simon Cowell assured Krajcik he has what it takes to succeed.
“I genuinely believe this Josh, I never believe you put a cap age on talent. You’ve been a brilliant contestant. You are going to sell a lot of records in the future,” Simon said immediately after Krajcik’s final solo performance on the show.
The top three sang Christmas songs Thursday night and then watched videos of their friends and family sending well wishes.
After Krajcik sang, the judges gave what would be their final reviews.
The performance left L.A. Reid without much to say.
“You’re so good, I’m always at a loss for words,” Reid said of Krajcik’s talent.
“You’re such a joy, your voice is magical,” was Paula Abdul’s response. “This is exactly where you need to be and Christmas songs fit you like a glove, and I just love you, Josh Krajcik.”
Nicole Scherzinger, who mentored Krajcik through the competition, gushed, “I appreciate you so much for the artist that you are. You open up your heart and your soul to us like no one else has. You inspire me, you make me want to be better, thank you so much, Josh, it’s been an honor.”
After hearing the final results, Josh said, “I feel amazing, Melanie deserves it, she has a wonderful voice. I’ve had such an incredible experience here. I got to be myself, sing what I want to sing and I couldn’t be happier.”
