Inmate Escapes from Mansfield Prison

MANSFIELD, Ohio—Authorities are searching for an inmate who walked away from a work assignment on Wednesday and escaped the prison.

Scott Basquin with the Mansfield Correctional Institution tells Fox 8 News in a statement that inmate Jeffrey Lewis, 25, was noticed missing at around 9:25 a.m.

According to Basquin, local law enforcement agencies, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction as well as the Ohio State Highway Patrol are working together to locate and apprehend Lewis.

Lewis is described as 5’9 tall and weighing 166 lbs. He has blond hair and blue eyes.

Lewis was sentenced to three years in the prison on October 4, 2011, for receiving stolen property in the Summit and Medina County area.
