Position Summary:

Requirements:

Position: Manager, News Operations, Engineering-News

Reports to: Director, Technology

Position Summary:
WJW-TV is looking for a high energy person required to work closely with News and Engineering Departments to plan, coordinate and implement news related workflows. Strong technical knowledge desired of news photography, lighting–audio techniques and Ross production control systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet changing deadlines for a station producing more than 60 hours of live local news per week. Applicant should have minimum 5 years’ experience working in medium to large market TV station.

Primary Responsibilities:
· Attend editorial meetings, work with news managers on coverage demands.
· Daily coordination with news desk on staffing, deployment of ENG assets.
· Schedule engineering staff to ensure successful execution of newscasts.
· Oversee maintenance for all ENG equipment including cameras, editing and live trucks.
· Oversee full time news helicopter program with monthly budget.
· Work closely with engineering to implement news related systems.

Requirements:
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in TV newsroom as photographer, truck operator, production technician or assignment editor.
· Bachelor’s degree from four year college or technical school preferred.
· Understanding of non-linear workflows from news field acquisition to editing to control room to on air product.
· Strong technical experience with field ENG cameras, lighting, audio techniques.
· Knowledge and experience with production control room workflow and IT troubleshooting.

· Understanding of the latest ENG-Satellite technologies and their use for news.

Position: Broadcast Maintenance Engineer

Reports to: Director of Technology

Position Summary:  This proactive individual will succeed in troubleshooting, repair, installation and preventive maintenance of broadcast equipment.  Person should have strong expertise in TV broadcast systems including  IT/LAN infrastructure,  studio, control room, master control, , wireless mics and newsroom equipment including  non-linear editing systems, field cameras and ENG trucks.   Provides direct technical support for news department doing more than 60 hours of live programming weekly.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain station equipment through preventive maintenance and repair.
  • Installation, wiring and documentation for broadcast equipment, automation, IT servers, switches and routers.
  • Perform diagnostics and repair of computer systems. Hardware repairs/Software installations, updates.
  • Perform on-site user support for desktop PC’s, MAC and other computer related issues.
  • Operate or assist with transmission of satellite/RF microwave truck/bonded cellular devices from the field.
  • Assist news department with support for non-linear editing systems, FTP, basic live truck repairs.
  • Have basic understanding of technical documents and drawings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in IT, electronics or television environment or similar.
  • Ability to troubleshoot/ repair broadcast equipment including computer systems, ENG cameras,
  • wireless devices, video monitoring systems, routers, patch panels.
  • Working knowledge of HD equipment including encoders/decoders, digital distribution of A/V.
  • Use of audio/video/data test equipment such as digital waveform-spectrum analyzer.
  • Demonstrated IT experience with basic server, networking topology and operating systems.
  • Work with management team on design, installation and integration of digital broadcast technology.
  • Amateur radio operator, FCC license, Cisco/Microsoft/SBE certifications all a plus.
  • Good hand dexterity with ability to climb ladders, work in high or tight spots, lift minimum 50 lbs
  • Excellent problem solving abilities and skill in prioritizing issues.

Position: Accountant

Reports to: Finance Manager

Position Summary:
WJW/WGHP is seeking an experienced Accountant to prepare and coordinate timely and accurate financial information, analysis and reporting in accordance with company policies, government regulations, and GAAP for the station. To be an integral part of a Regional Finance team (three stations) and ensure the team objectives and goals are met. To provide finance service functions to the management of WGHP in the absence of the Finance Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:
· Assist the regional team as necessary with processing of balance sheet account reconciliations, and any accounting cycle functions as assigned by Finance management.
· Prepare journal entries as needed for monthly financial close.
· Assist in internal and external financial and Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance results.
· Daily Pacing.
· Assist as necessary with the annual operating plan.
· Assist on special projects, analyses, and presentations as needed.
· Miscellaneous other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
· Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as an Accountant.
· Broadcast experience a plus.
· Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills are required.
· Must be able to work under time constraints and manage deadlines.
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and automated accounting systems.
· Some travel may be required.

Position: News Intern

Reports to: News Director

Position Summary:
WJW is currently seeking an Intern for our News department. The internship is paid and lasts 8-12 weeks during Summer Semester.

Primary Responsibilities:
· Assist the Assignment Desk in researching story ideas and coordinating crews of reporters and photographers in their daily assignments. Tasks may include retrieving file materials, answering telephones, making beat checks, and assisting assignment editors and reporters in setting up coverage plans.
· Support live news broadcasts with program content creation. This is an opportunity to learn and participate in the daily production of a fast-paced, major market newscast. Tasks may include writing scripts for live newscasts, creating graphic elements and assisting in story research.
· Assist the Web Producers in story research and writing, use social media to gather information or share station content, and video publishing. Tasks may include conducting internet searches, scanning and reading multiple news sources, writing posts for station social media accounts, creating content for station’s website.

Requirements:
· Must be 18 or older and a registered student in good standing at an accredited college or university
· Must be able to work hours required by department
· Working knowledge of computer operations, proficient in EXCEL.
· Must be organized, detail oriented, accurate and a self-starter.
· Excellent analytical, writing, and computer skills.
· Must be able to work effectively under time constraints, and must have the ability to manage his/her normal workload.
