Position:Director, Technology

Reports To: General Manager
Position Summary: WJW-TV is looking for a Director of Technology to manage station engineering and IT operations. Responsible for the complete installation, design and maintenance of all technical operations and for the maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
· This position will define and implement the technical advancements necessary to operate a television station, including transmitter operations and maintenance, technical production operations, Management Information Systems (MIS), and facility maintenance. Will provide the design and implementation of systems as required for future technical enhancements.
· Will be responsible for preparation and monthly accountability of the yearly budget for the Department. Negotiates capital and operating purchases, insures that the station is in FCC compliance, and supervises major RF transmission line repairs and realignment.
· Is responsible for facility maintenance, repairs and budgets, service contracts, inspections, building upgrades and remodels.
· Responsible for all live production equipment and its’ maintenance, repairs, upkeep and troubleshooting. Equipment installation and maintenance of the transmitter, microwave and satellite systems, video servers edit suites, studio lighting, video routing, terminal equipment, monitors, video switchers and audio consoles.
· Will work closely with the NEWS department to insure production quality, as well as on air and master control quality. Will provide leadership and supervision of the production technical staff in a union environment.
· Will provide structure for the safety concerns of the station and will work with HR in state and federal required safety compliance.
· All other duties as assigned in support of the station.

Requirements:
· Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing an Engineering group in a union television station.
· Bachelor’s degree in technical related field or equivalent experience preferred.
· Candidates should possess experience in the maintenance of transmitters, satellite equipment, cameras, and other production equipment.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of Information Technology as it pertains to broadcasting, including file transfer and data network systems. Prefer prior experience with CAD and system design. Prior experience working in a live newscast environment.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
· Strong leadership, managerial and supervisory skills.
· The incumbent must be analytical, possess good reporting and record keeping skills with the ability to effectively communicate highly technical information to a non-technical management team.
· Solid listening skills, excellent organizational ability, attention to detail in preparing revenue forecasts, analyses, etc. are all mandatory.
· Director of Technology comes in contact with the General Manager on a daily basis to report and review technical performance each week.
· Works closely with the News department in support of a quality broadcast.
· Is responsible to the entire organization for MIS and facility maintenance with attention given to providing the highest standard of customer service and quality support to the staff.
· Must be willing to be on call.

Position: Associate Producer

Reports to: News Director

Position Summary:
The Associate Producer is responsible for daily production of quality news stories. The successful candidate will write for all platforms of Fox 8 News including broadcast, website and mobile.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Write and support line producers for hour-long newscasts.
· Learn to fill-in produce, work on the assignment desk, field produce and run teleprompter
· Manage the live on-air decisions, including newscast timing in the control room.
· Evaluate local, state and national/international stories using websites, Twitter, FOX/CNN & Tribune News services, and wires.
· Determine placement of stories in the newscast and which stories should be “live” from remote trucks, newsroom, etc.
· Help devise and execute daily tease strategy for attracting and building audience.
· Plan future segments, topics, guests and story ideas.
· Post stories to the web.
· Maintain social media presence.
· Additional duties as necessary.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field is desired.
· At least one year of experience in a working newsroom preferred.
· Must be able to work well under deadline pressure
· Must have solid news judgment
· Must be a consistent and solid writer
· Non-linear editing and internet experience preferred
· Must be a creative, flexible and able to act decisively
· Work well in a strong team environment
· Strong organizational skills
· Be prepared to work any shift in our 24/7 newsroom

Position: Accountant

Reports to: Finance Manager

Position Summary
WJW is seeking an experienced Accountant to prepare and coordinate timely and accurate financial information, analysis and reporting in accordance with company policies, government regulations, and GAAP for the station. To be an integral part of a Regional Finance team (three stations) and ensure the team objectives and goals are met. To provide finance service functions to the management of WJW in the absence of the Finance Manager.

Primary Responsibilities
· Assist the regional team as necessary with processing of Fixed Asset accounting, balance sheet account reconciliations, and any accounting cycle functions as assigned by Finance management.
· Prepare journal entries as needed for monthly financial close.
· Assist in internal and external financial and Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance results.
· Daily Pacing.
· Assist as necessary with the annual operating plan.
· Assist on special projects, analyses, and presentations as needed.
· Miscellaneous other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
· Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a Accountant.
· Broadcast experience a plus.
