  • Store owner pulls gun on smash-and-grab suspects

    CLEVELAND, Ohio — A store owner turned the tables on two would-be smash-and-grab suspects early Thursday. It happened at Ohio City Gas at about 4 a.m. A mini-van slammed through the front doors of the business, and two men climbed out. But the store owner pulled out a gun and fired at them. The suspects ran off. It’s not clear if they are hurt. Police searched the area and could not find them. The incident is still under investigation.

  • Cavs taking ‘additional measures’ at Game 4 in light of Manchester bombing

    CLEVELAND, Ohio — There will be increased security tonight at the Cleveland Cavaliers game in light of the suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. “We are taking some additional appropriate measures,” said Phyllis Salem, Cavs spokesperson. The I TEAM has learned police are adding more eyes in the crowd with undercover officers. And, police are focusing more than before on security even after the game.   • Medical examiner IDs 5 children who died in Akron house fire; celebration of life set for Saturday

    AKRON, Ohio — The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the five children killed in a house fire in Akron last week. Seven people died in the fire. The office previously said the two adults were Dennis Huggins, 35, and Angela Boggs, 37. The children have now been identified as Jared Boggs, 14; Daisia Huggins, 6; Kyle Huggins, 5; Alivia Huggins, 3; and Cameron Huggins, 16 months.   • Kenyan runner wins first place in Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon

      CLEVELAND, Ohio — A runner from Kenya too first place overall in today’s Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon. Tisia Kiplangat won the  men’s marathon with a time of 2:20:25. Ethiopian Serkalem Abrha won the woman’s marathon with a time of 2:42:08. They each won $3,000. The marathon, half marathon and 10K began at 7 a.m. at Quicken Loans Arena.     CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man faces charges after two officers say he fired shots at them when they spotted an attempted robbery.
