    CLEVELAND — Multiple law enforcement sources confirmed with the Fox 8 I-Team that Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association President Steve Loomis was involved in a two-car accident Tuesday evening. It happened just before 5:45 p.m. near East 89th Street and Buckeye Avenue. Police say a car driven by Loomis was struck by another, leaving both vehicles heavily damaged.   • Police: Man tried to lure boy into van with candy

    CLEVELAND — A man is in custody after he allegedly tried to lure a 10-year-old boy into his van Tuesday afternoon. It happened just before 3 p.m. in the 7200 block of Bell Avenue. According to a Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority police report, the man drove up to the victim and asked him to “come over to his van,” because he had candy inside. The boy got away.   • Body pulled from Lake Erie after hours-long search for missing swimmer

    AVON LAKE, Ohio — A body has been recovered from Lake Erie after multiple crews searched off a private beach in Avon Lake for hours for a missing swimmer, officials have confirmed to Fox 8 News.   • Cleveland high school football player seriously hurt in shooting has died: Family

    CLEVELAND — A 17-year-old high school football player who was seriously injured in a drive-by shooting in Cleveland earlier this month has died, his mother confirmed to Fox 8 News reporter Suzanne Stratford on Sunday. Niecey Bryant has been at her son’s bedside ever since the shooting.  She says one of the bullets, still lodged inside Michael Chappman’s body, traveled and damaged some of his organs.     AURORA, Ohio — The heavy rains that swept across Northeast Ohio Saturday morning left some areas with serious flooding problems. One affected city was Macedonia, where high waters caused a portion of Valley View Road to be shut down until it subsided.     Actor John Heard has died at the age of 71, TMZ reports. The “Home Alone” star was reportedly found dead in a Palo Alto, California, hotel by a maid service.  Police responded, but Heard was pronounced dead at the scene, the website said. According to the report, Heard had minor back surgery on Wednesday at Stanford Medical Center, and was staying at a nearby hotel while he recovered.     CLEVELAND — When a serious accident happened right in front of a Cleveland police station early Friday morning, officers came running out to help.
