Jen Steer is a web producer at Fox 8 News in Cleveland, writing stories for fox8.com, planning social media strategy and curating homepage content.

She spent a year as a community engagement specialist for the Northeast Ohio Media Group, representing cleveland.com, The Plain Dealer and Sun News.

For four years, Jen web produced at NewsChannel5 in Cleveland, where she won several awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Ohio Associated Press. She also received an Edward R. Murrow Award for her coverage of serial killer Anthony Sowell.

In 2013, Jen helped break the news that Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were found alive in the Cleveland house of Ariel Castro. She discussed the kidnappings live with Anderson Cooper on CNN, appeared on BBC’s morning show and provided updates to radio stations around the globe.

Jen studied broadcast journalism at Kent State University and graduated in 2008.

    BOWLING GREEN, Ohio– The community of Bowling Green State University is mourning the loss of one of its students. Shawn Brennan, 27, was killed in a car crash Tuesday morning on state Route 199 north of Fostoria, which sits in Hancock, Seneca and Wood counties.     CLEVELAND– An emaciated dog found in an abandoned Cleveland house continues to improve. The rescue group FIDO’s Companion took the pup to West Park Animal Hospital on Saturday.
