    Man found guilty in New Franklin double homicide

    AKRON, Ohio — Shawn Ford Jr. was found guilty of aggravated murder in the April 2013 double homicide of Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert of New Franklin. The husband and wife, ages 56 and 59 respectively, were beaten to death with a sledge hammer inside their home. The crime happened ten days after their daughter, Chelsea, was beaten and stabbed while out with Ford, a crime he is also accused of committing.     Focus on Flu: A message from local leaders

    CLEVELAND — Local hospitals and leaders have formed a partnership to spread an important message: Focus on Flu. The public has always been encouraged to get a flu shot, but this season there’s an even greater push because of Ebola concerns. “The symptoms of Ebola and flu are somewhat similar, so we feel that now more than ever, we need to strongly urge the community to get their flu shot,” the Cleveland Clinic said in an email.     Police release map of suspicious van’s route

    PORT CLINTON, Ohio – Police in Port Clinton asked the community to be on the lookout for an older model work van after two kids reported one followed them for several blocks. The children said they first saw the van at the intersection of Laurel Avenue and Sixth Street while they were riding their bikes on Friday.     Restaurant closed for the day after fire

    BROOKLYN, Ohio — Firefighters worked to douse flames at a restaurant early Wednesday morning. The Texas Roadhouse on Ridge Road caught fire sometime around 4:45 a.m. Officials confirmed the fire was out shortly before 6 a.m. They told Fox 8 News an air handler unit on the roof sparked the blaze. No one was inside at the time. The restaurant will be closed Wednesday. Rely on Fox 8 News and FOX8.com for updates.

    Unoccupied police car slammed during fatal crash investigation

    NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — A driver was taken to the hospital after slamming into the back of an unoccupied police cruiser while officers were investigating a fatal accident. According to the North Olmsted Police Department, the first accident involved an SUV that lost control late Monday and hit a median wall on I-480 eastbound near the North Olmsted/North Ridgeville border.
