    Kent State student-athlete dies unexpectedly

    KENT, Ohio — A Kent State student-athlete died unexpectedly from what was believed to be an undetermined medical issue, the university said Wednesday. Jason Bitsko, 21, was found unresponsive in the bedroom of his off-campus apartment shortly before 9 a.m. He was about to begin his fourth year on the football team and would have been the starting center for the upcoming season.     PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake County General Health District in Painesville will be closed for 4-6 months following a fire Wednesday. Painesville Fire Chief Mark Mlachak said it started sometime around 6:30 a.m. “The problem is you’ve got a steel roof and about three to four inches of foam insulation, and a lot of the fire is between the two so we have to pull all of that roofing off,” he said.     JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Two people in another vehicle were killed when a driver went through a stop sign, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. The crash happened at US 42 and State Route 302 in Jackson Township, Ashland County around 7:42 p.m. Tuesday.     If you have at least one friend, consider yourself luckier than millions of people. The Guardian published details of a survey done by relationship support organization Relate.     Update: VA hospital gas leak capped

    CLEVELAND — A gas leak at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center on East Boulevard prompted some evacuations Tuesday, but it was capped as of 11:55 a.m. and was not considered a threat. The Cleveland Division of Fire said a construction crew outside of the hospital punctured a line in the street which created the low pressure leak.     Westlake man accused of stabbing parents

    WESTLAKE, Ohio — A hang-up call to 911 set the wheels in motion for authorities to arrest a man accused of stabbing his parents. The call was made from Southbridge Drive in Westlake Monday around 10:18 p.m. When dispatchers called back, they found a 58-year-old man and his 56-year-old wife had been stabbed, allegedly by their 22-year-old son.     SkyFOX shows smokey remnants of service garage fire

    RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A number of service vehicles were damaged when a fire tore through a service garage in Richfield Township, Summit County. The garage is located on Boston Mills Road. A dispatcher said the fire was reported at 5:50 a.m. Multiple agencies were working to control the fire. By 8 a.m., SkyFOX showed the smokey remnants from above. No injuries were reported.
