Download: Have you started your Christmas shopping?

As we leave summer behind, we expect to see pumpkins and other fall décor in stores, but it seems like every year, the Christmas items go on display earlier and earlier. Kmart already started to promote its holiday layaway with a tongue-in-cheek ad the company promised was “not a Christmas commercial.” Other large retailers have dedicated shelf space to holiday decorations and must-haves in hopes that customers will start spending now.

Cedar Point will not rename coaster after LeBron James

SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point fulfilled a promise to LeBron James, but it wasn’t how Northeast Ohio expected. Back in July, the park tweeted it would rename a roller coaster after the basketball star if he returned home to play with the Cleveland Cavaliers. James is back in wine and gold, but you won’t get to ride any “King James” coaster anytime soon. Instead, Cedar Point and the LeBron James Family Foundation established a long-term partnership. The announcement was made Tuesday. […]

White House backs use of body cameras by police

WASHINGTON — The White House says requiring police officers to wear body cameras is one potential solution to the mistrust between police and their communities that fueled unrest last month in Ferguson, Missouri. More than 150,000 people signed an online White House petition urging President Barack Obama to “create a law” requiring all police to wear body cameras. That would require an act of Congress. But Roy Austin, a White House adviser on Justice and Urban Affairs issues, says the […]

Man once called ‘sumo wrestler’ loses 100+ pounds

Yusuke Kirimoto was always overweight. When he visited his relatives in Japan, they would jokingly say, “the sumo wrestler is back.” Their comments were meant to be funny, but Kirimoto still felt the sting. Kirimoto and his wife Megumi had their daughter Sara in 2006. Like many toddlers, Sara would run around their Westminster, Colorado, home, and Kirimoto would trail behind her, trying to catch up. But as she got older, keeping up with Sara became a struggle for him, […]

Kent State responds to controversial Urban Outfitters sweatshirt

KENT, Ohio — Kent State University said it took “great offense” to a vintage sweatshirt that was sold by Urban Outfitters, and it’s not alone. Many others were appalled by the design, saying online that it looked blood soaked and splattered. Four unarmed Kent State University students died in May of 1970 when the National Guard opened fire during a Vietnam War protest. The sweatshirt had the university’s name and seal across the front.  It was different shades of red […]
